Elementary General Music
This engaging class introduces younger students to the joy of music through singing, rhythm activities, movement, and the use of classroom instruments such as percussion and recorders. Students will explore musical concepts like beat, melody, and dynamics in a fun and interactive way, while also being introduced to music appreciation and creativity.

Intermediate Choir
This course is intended for students with some choral experience who are ready to take their singing to the next level. Students will develop stronger part-singing skills, sight-reading ability, and vocal technique. Repertoire will be more challenging and will encourage expression, teamwork, and performance skills in preparation for concerts.
Meets Tuesdays 1:30 – 2:30

Beginning Choir
Students will explore the fundamentals of singing, including breath control, pitch accuracy, tone quality, and diction. Through fun warm-ups and beginner-level choral repertoire, students will gain confidence in their vocal ability while learning to blend with others in a group. This class is open to all students with an interest in singing—no prior experience is required.

Intermediate Orchestra
For students with prior experience on a string instrument, this class focuses on refining playing technique and expanding musical knowledge. Students will work on scales, shifting, dynamics, and expressive playing while learning more complex ensemble pieces. Emphasis will be placed on listening skills, musical interpretation, and playing confidently in a group setting.

Beginning Orchestra
This course is designed for students who are new to string instruments (violin, viola, or cello). Students will learn the basics of instrument care, proper bow hold and posture, note reading, and simple melodies. By the end of the semester, students will be able to play in an ensemble setting and perform basic pieces as part of a group.

Intermediate Band
Designed for students with at least one year of band experience, this course builds on foundational skills by introducing more advanced rhythms, scales, and ensemble techniques. Students will develop improved tone quality, intonation, and phrasing while performing a wider variety of music. Regular practice and participation in group rehearsals will help students gain confidence as performers.
Meets Tuesdays 4:00 – 5:00

Beginning Band
Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of instrumental music, including proper posture, music reading, tone production, and embouchure development for brass and woodwind instruments. Emphasis will be placed on ensemble playing, developing a steady beat, and learning how to blend with other musicians. No prior band experience is required—just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn!

*all courses require a 10-student minimum to run. If a course does not run because of low enrollment, we will make every effort to move students into comparable courses.
